Rebecca has a true passion for all things that fly, the people who fly them and everything in between. She’s not only an excellent strategic thinker, but also very creative in the way she approaches a challenge. Where else can you find someone who’s helped orchestrate a Kickstarter campaign for a WWII B-29 and also generated social media content for major aircraft OEMs and jet engine manufacturers?

About Rebecca
Rebecca Groom joins Groom Aviation with a concentration in writing and communications. As a private pilot and marketing graduate, she combines unique insight and creative thinking to assist aviation clients in communicating and engaging their target audience(s) via multiple channels. In addition to communications, her background involves a wide range of marketing functions, including market research, social media, strategy, branding, and advertising. Rebecca also served five years as the Editor-in-Chief of Twin & Turbine – a monthly aviation publication dedicated to owner-pilots. Managing a team of talented writers, she mapped, edited and oversaw all magazine editorial and design.
Aviation Background
Though raised around general aviation, Rebecca first considered it as a career while learning to fly in a Piper J-3 Cub in 2010. The experience (and private pilot certificate) led her to change course and pursue a marketing degree upon returning to Oklahoma State University that Fall.
Following graduation, Rebecca relocated to Vero Beach, Florida where she began her professional career with the sales and marketing team at Piper Aircraft. In addition to extensive market research, she extended support to the Sr. Marketing Manager for global tradeshows and special event planning – eventually working major aircraft tradeshows such as Sun ‘n Fun, EAA AirVenture and NBAA.
It would also be during her time at Piper that Rebecca would uncover her passion and talent for writing. She was tasked with original, creative copy for Piper’s website, direct mails, and advertisements.
But in 2014, the Midwest drew Rebecca back, and her next professional role would take place at the aviation-founded advertising agency, Sullivan Higdon & Sink (SHS).
At SHS, Rebecca provided advertising and marketing direction to the aviation, aerospace and defense team. Working with major engine manufacturers and aircraft OEMs, most notably Textron Aviation, Rebecca provided strategy and branding input and headed the team’s press relations and social media jobs.
Following a three-year tenure at the company, Rebecca then joined consulting firm Groom Aviation, Rebecca has worked with brands such as Textron Aviation, Piper, Quest, Mooney and CJP. Near the end of her three-year tenure at SHS, she began to also contribute articles to Twin & Turbine Magazine (T&T). And in May of 2018, she was appointed Editor-in-Chief.
As the editor, Rebecca planned all editorial content utilizing a team of 10 to 15 contributing writers (pilots and aviation professionals). She reviewed story ideas, edited articles, collected assets and wrote a monthly Editor's column. She also collaborated with the designer on the brand's look/feel across all T&T materials, modernizing both the magazine and website during her tenure. She proudly served as Editor for five years before resigning in March of 2023 to pursue other opportunities.
